DAY 1 (SEPTEMBER 9, 2017)
topic: COMPONENTS OF A PITCH
Participants will see what a pitch to investors looks like, what its components are and what the deliverable for the bootcamp would look like
topic: Identifying and communicating the problem and solution
Participants will learn about how to identify the problem their technology is solving and communicating the solution along with the value it provides (building the value proposition)
topic: Market Analysis (Primary and Secondary Market research)
SPEAKER: SUPRIYA MUNSHAW, lecturer, carey business school
Participants will learn basics of primary and secondary market research, segmenting and sizing the market, and selecting a target market
topic: components of a business model
Participants will learn about different business model options (out-licensing vs. start-up) and components of a business model (revenue model, cost model).
TOPIC: MEET THE MENTORS (optional)
Participants will have the opportunity to meet and interact with their mentors
DAY 2 (september 16, 2017)
topic: Panel on licensing
Participants will learn about licensing deals from other Johns Hopkins entrepreneurs
topic: Assessing the financial risk
Participants will learn about financial models, determining how much money the venture needs and basic net present value (NPV) calculations.
topic: Building and Managing a Team/ conflict management
Participants will learn how to recruit talent, manage a team and conflict
topic: Navigating the FDA (Optional)
Participants will learn about FDA requirements and how to get a biomedical technology through the FDA.
TOPIC: mentor meetings (optional)
Participants will have the opportunity to interact with their mentors
between days 2 and 3, teams will meet with mentors and instructors on their own schedule to prepare their pitch
DAY 3 (october 14, 2016)
Teams will have an opportunity to pitch their technologies in front of a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs and investors.
